Dr. Emily Kinsky
Adviser
Dr. Emily Kinsky works as an associate professor in West Texas A&M University’s Department of Communication where she teaches courses related to PR, design, new media and research.
She researches social media, crisis communication, and the representation of PR in the media. Dr. Kinsky’s research has been published in a range of journals, including the Journal of Public Relations Research, Public Relations Review, PRSA’s PR Journal, and Communication Quarterly. Her work has placed among the top papers at the International Public Relations Research Conference and earned the top paper award in the teaching paper competition for the PR Division of AEJMC. She and her co-authors also earned the Arthur W. Page Center Benchmarking Award in 2013.
In 2013, 2015 and 2016, she was recognized with the Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts & Humanities Award for Intellectual Contributions and in 2018, she was recognized for her professional service. She serves as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Public Relations Education. Dr. Kinsky served as head of the Public Relations Division for the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication for 2016-2017, and has been a board member of the Commission on Public Relations Education since 2015.
In addition to helping found 1910 PR in 2017, she helps advise WTAMU’s chapters of the Public Relations Student Society of America and the National Broadcasting Society (NBS). In March 2014, she was named the National Adviser of the Year for NBS.
