Drawing Inspiration from Unlikely Sources

By Alix Maza, 1910 PR associate

This will be my 3rd semester working with 1910 PR! Despite not being in town, I still attended meetings via Zoom and was able to participate in the Steve Burns event. My biggest takeaway from 1910 PR was definitely that event. Even though I wasn’t there in person, I got to experience the behind the scenes of planning, creating promotional graphics, posting on social media and live tweeting the event from the Distinguished Lecture Series account.

We regularly listened to the Spin Sucks podcast (which I discovered my love for last year!), created graphics for DLS Week, and worked on a collaborative logo for another client. Creating that logo was a challenge that I enjoyed. It got the creative juices flowing — combining the two logos that did not really work together. Also funny story, right when I heard about this project, an ad for Dunkin’ Donuts' collaboration with E.L.F. cosmetics popped up on one of my social media feeds. I was able to draw inspiration from that and am also a firm believer that our phones are spying on us.

Overall, working with 1910 PR has been an experience that I enjoy immensely. The real-world skills one gains are invaluable and essential.
