Back Where It All Began

Returning to 1910 PR this semester feels like coming full circle. Walking back into the program, I couldn’t help but think about my very first semester

when I had absolutely no clue what was coming.

Back in Fall 2024, everything about public relations felt new and intimidating. Now, over a year later in Spring 2026, I’ve returned with confidence, experience, and a stronger understanding of what it takes to succeed in a fast-paced PR environment.

From designing eye-catching graphics to writing press releases and collaborating with multiple teams, 1910 PR has helped me build real-world skills that continue to shape my professional growth. The organization has pushed me to take on new challenges while trusting me with meaningful Client work, helping me grow both creatively and professionally.

Learning Public Relations Remotely

One of the biggest adjustments during my first semester in 1910 PR was that the course was completely remote. It was my first experience working outside of a traditional classroom setting and collaborating virtually with several teams at once.

While it was challenging at first, learning how to communicate clearly, meet deadlines online, and stay accountable taught me skills that are incredibly valuable in today’s workforce. Working remotely trained me to become more organized, proactive, and intentional with my time. I quickly realized that there is more to becoming successful in PR than being creative, it’s also about strong time management.

Time Management Tips That Changed My Workflow

To stay on top of tasks, I started using Todoist, an organization app I discovered through LinkedIn. It allows me to categorize assignments, client work, and deadlines into clear sections, making it much easier to juggle multiple responsibilities.

Some ways I use Todoist include:

• Breaking large projects into smaller tasks

• Setting deadline reminders

• Creating separate categories for classes and clients

• Prioritizing urgent assignments

If you’re new to the app, there are also helpful Todoist tutorials on YouTube that walk through how to customize it for your personal workflow. Using tools like this has completely transformed how I manage my time and stay productive in a busy PR schedule.

Growing Through 1910 PR

Being part of 1910 PR has allowed me to experience what working in public relations truly looks like. From client communication to content creation and teamwork, every project has helped me sharpen skills that I know I’ll carry into my future career.

The organization continues to challenge me in the best ways possible and has given me hands-on experience that goes far beyond a traditional classroom.

Reflecting on My Academic Journey

As I move through my final semester, it feels bittersweet knowing this chapter is coming to an end. I’ll always cherish the friendships I’ve made, the late nights working on projects, and the growth I’ve experienced throughout my time in the communications program.

West Texas A&M University and 1910 PR pushed me outside of my comfort zone and helped me find confidence in my abilities as a non-traditional student navigating my academic journey. Returning to 1910 PR one last time has been the perfect way to reflect on how far I’ve come and prepare for what’s ahead.

Looking Ahead

1910 PR has played a huge role in helping me grow not only as a student, but as a future professional in public relations. The experiences I’ve gained, the skills I’ve built, and the confidence I’ve developed through this organization will stay with me long after graduation.
