While this internship was far from a cake walk, it gave perspective on how to manage multiple tasks and deadlines while still managing other classes and a personal life. When working with the firm’s clients and the other associates, responding to messages in a timely manner and making sure your to-do list is prioritized is crucial.
In the beginning, I felt a lot of uncertainty on how the internship would work, what roles I would play, and how much time I would need to commit. After getting into the groove of the 1910 routine, I can say I gained so many valuable skills from this class than what I was anticipating.
Time Management

Social Media Management
In the PR world, understanding social media is basic, and understanding strategic social media tactics is power. 1910 PR associates contribute almost every piece of content that gets published on the firm’s Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook platforms. From creating the graphics and captions, to finalizing who is posting what and when, social media management is a skill you need to be successful in this industry.
Network, Network, Network
To be successful in the PR industry, networking and meeting like-minded communicators is essential. We have all heard the saying, “It’s not about what you know, it’s about who you know” at least once in our life. 1910 PR has been a great resource for connecting with other communication professionals and students. The firm really emphasizes the importance of teamwork and getting to know the other associates and how we can help each other in the future.
Overall, this internship was worth more than its weight in gold. From the skills I’ve acquired, to the people I’ve met, and the confidence I’ve gained from being part of the firm, it has helped assure that this is the field I am destined to be in. I am so excited for the future and can’t wait to see how this firm changes the lives of others.
