This semester marks my fourth semester taking classes here at WT. This experience has
also prepared me for my future like no other has been able to do, and it's all because of Dr.Kinsky's 1910 PR class. Within the last few months, I have seen myself grow in so many
different personal and professional areas.
1910 PR has pushed me outside of my comfort zone and into the world of professional PR.
This semester, I was part of a team representing the WTAMU Department of Communication.
Through this experience I have learned so much about how to represent a client online,
engage with external partners, plan and host events, and build professional relationships
outside of the classroom. Taking this class has allowed me to gain hands-on experiences
that I otherwise may not have been able to get until I was well into my public relations
career. Instead, I have it under my belt and can use it to build a strong professional
foundation that sets me apart from other early career professionals.
Aside from the overall skills that I have learned, I’ve become more confident in myself. Being a part of the events 1910 PR has hosted this year has allowed me to step out of my own little bubble and directly engage with people from all different backgrounds. I have met other students, professors, professionals working in the fields I am interested in, and so many others that I would never have had the pleasure to meet had it not been for 1910
PR.
As we near the end of this semester, I find myself reflecting back to the first day of class
and seeing just how much I have grown. Needless to say, I am so thankful for 1910 PR and
all that Dr. Kinsky has taught me through it.
